In this module, you will learn that a community is made up of groups of people the first being the family. Here you will understand the importance of why the family is the first group of the community.

2. The Family and its members

After this lesson, you are expected to:

1. Understand the word "family" 

2. Know that the family has various concepts (i.e. two way parent family, single parent family, and extended family)

3. Give importance to each family concept.

The Family

Each family

Has a father and a mother

Who guards the children

The father is the foundation of a home

The mother is the light of a home

The children are the fruit

What is the poem about?

The poem is about a family. The family is comprised of a mother, a father, and children. The family is a small group in a community.

There are different types of families.

The first is the concept of a "two-way parent family" where there is a father, mother, and children.

The second concept is the " single-parent family", this is what we call a family that has one parent with the children. There could be one or more children.

There is a family made up of parents, children and other family members such as grandmother, grandfather, uncle, aunt, and cousins. The third concept is what you call "extended family". This is what usually happens in our country the Philippines. Hardship is the reason why the whole family stays together so they can save on daily necessities.
